The Oxford Theatre

Join us in revitalizing Downtown Oxford with the renovation of the Oxford Theatre!

Since 2018 Oxford Mainstreet Incorporated has been working on the revitalization of the downtown by renovating the space at 21 South Third street into a small, art-house style venue called the ‘Shoebox Theatre’. This smaller theatre was to be the first of two phases, with the ultimate goal being a complete reconstruction of the theatre back to what it was in its heyday in the 1940’s.

In April 2022, Oxford Mainstreet was a recipient of the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Project Grant in the amount of $2,144,166. This sum of money is a game-changer for the Theatre and Oxford as a whole. While the entire project will cost over twice the awarded amount, it’s a huge step forward and we’re so thankful to those folks who helped make it happen. Instead of focusing our efforts on the 50-seat venue, this award allows us to jump ahead to the redevelopment of the full Oxford Theatre with seating for approximately 400 people.

We hope that the Oxford Theatre will become the go-to place in southern Chester county for live shows, movies, musical performances, children’s theatre, lectures, corporate conferences, and more.

We are so thankful for our donors who are helping to make the reconstruction of the Historic Oxford Theatre possible.
